Cover Cropping 101 Workshop Coming to Franklin County

Franklin County farmers, homesteaders and home gardeners who want to learn more about protecting and improving their soil will now have an opportunity to learn the basics of cover cropping this October.

The N.C. Cooperative Extension Franklin County Center will host Cover Cropping 101 on Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m. at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Center Annex in Louisburg. 

The informational workshop will introduce participants to several parts of using cover crops, including different crop options, their benefits, how to plant them and when and how to terminate them. The session is designed for farmers as well as homesteaders and gardeners, making it an opportunity for residents with different levels of growing experience to learn more about the practice. 

Note: Participants will have a chance to win a sample of cover crop seed to take home and trial themselves.
