Granville County Early Voting Plan Heads to State Board of Elections

Granville County’s ongoing dispute over early voting locations is now heading to the state.

On August 20, the State Board of Elections will meet in Raleigh to consider and adopt early voting plans for North Carolina counties that did not pass a unanimous plan. 

This comes after weeks of tension, division, and public concern surrounding Granville County’s Board of Elections. Coverage of the issue has revealed a pattern of deadlock and controversy, including disputes over early voting locations, internal board conflict, and questions about transparency.

The State Board of Elections meeting will take place at the Dobbs Building in Raleigh. While the public can attend, there will be no opportunity for in-person public comment during the meeting. Residents who want to share input on Granville County’s early voting plan must submit comments online by August 17. 

The outcome of this decision will impact voting access across Granville County, and this is the public's last opportunity to weigh in on Granville County’s plan before the state board makes its decision. Comments made through the portal become part of the public record.
