Where to Watch Fireworks in Franklin and Granville Counties This Fourth of July

Franklin and Granville Counties are both hosting fireworks celebrations in honor of Independence Day this year. Whether you decide to check out the festivities in Louisburg on Saturday or head toward the lake in Butner on Friday (or both!), here is everything you need to know to plan your Fourth of July weekend:


Franklin County: 4th of July Celebration

Location: Louisburg High School (Old Football Field)
Date: July 4, 2026
Time: Gates open at 5:00 pm, Fireworks start around 9:15 pm

What to Expect:

  • Food Trucks and Local vendors
  • Inflatables and games for kids
  • Live Music and Community atmosphere
  • Fireworks show at dark

Important Rules & Safety Info:

  • No alcohol, smoking, pets, or glass
  • No tents, stakes, or shade structures
  • Security screening at entrance - clear bag policy in effect
  • No weapons allowed

Parking & Traffic Tips:

  • This event will draw a lot of people out, so plan ahead
  • Carpool if possible
  • Only park in designated areas (avoid private property)
  • Expect traffic patterns to change after the event, including:
    • One way exits on Allen lane and Smoketree Way
    • Limited entry routes during and after event

Granville County: Lake Holt Fireworks Celebration

This is a regional celebration hosted by the City of Creedmoor, Town of Butner, City of Oxford, Town of Stem, and the Granville County government.

Location: Lake Holt ( 1100 Lake Holt Rd., Butner)
Date: Jul 3, 2026
Time: Gates open at 6:00 pm, gates close at 8:45 pm sharp, and fireworks will start at approximately 9-9:15 p.m.

What to Expect:

  • Live DJ entertainment throughout the evening
  • Food trucks and cold treats will be available
  • Patriotic outfit contest (around 7:30 pm)
  • Fireworks over the lake

Important Rules:

  • No entry after 8:45 pm
  • No alcoholic beverages
  • Leave pets at home (due to noise)

What to Bring:

  • Lawn chair or blankets
  • Bug Spray and flashlights
  • Patriotic spirit
